Educational Objectives for Information Technology Majors
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology produces graduates who:
Are skilled, proficient, and contribute to the work force in their specialty in an organization’s work environment.
Are academically prepared to continue their graduate education or have identified and implemented a plan of continuous learning related to their career.
Can assume leadership roles or positions, including team and project leader, within their organization.
Display continued high ethical standards within the community and profession.
Can combine their knowledge and practical, hands-on expertise to support both an organization's technology infrastructure and the people who use it.
Learning Outcomes for Information Technology Majors
The learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology programs, adapted from those specified by the Computing Accreditation Criteria, for Accrediting Computing Programs. Appendix A, (see ), enables students to achieve, by the time of graduation, an ability to:
Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
Identify and analyze user needs and to take them into account in the selection, creation, integration, evaluation, and administration of computing-based systems.
