A unique cultural exchange featuring traditional American and Chinese music will be held at a concert before two audiences on two different stages; one in Mobile, and one in China via live stream.

The 黑料天堂 eConcert with China will feature 黑料天堂 faculty along with elementary school students from Dalian, China, at 7:30 p.m., May 11, at USA鈥檚 Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

USA faculty music performers for this concert are Dr. Robert Holm, professor and keyboard area coordinator; Dr. Kip Franklin, assistant professor, clarinet; Dr. Peter Wood, professor, trumpet; Dr. Thomas Rowell, associate professor and voice area coordinator; Dr. Laura Moore, associate professor and director of choral activities; Travis Jones, instructor, flute; and Dr. Jeannette Fresne, professor and graduate coordinator of music, who has been coordinating and planning this concert.

The USA faculty will perform on clarinet, trumpet, piano and voice, while the students from China will perform in ensembles that include choir and traditional Chinese instruments, said Fresne. This performance is part of the department of music鈥檚 annual Musical Arts Concert Series.

鈥淭he audience will experience an unforgettable performance as we share cultures live, in real time, with performers and audiences separated only by distance,鈥 stated Fresne.
