Stokes Center for Creative Writing to Host Author Patti Callahan

The Stokes Center for Creative Writing will host internationally acclaimed bestselling author Patti Callahan Thursday, Feb. 13 at the 黑料天堂.
Callahan is the 2020 winner of the prestigious Harper Lee Award for her USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and The Globe and Mail bestselling novel 鈥淏ecoming Mrs. Lewis.鈥 She will be presented with the award next month in Lee鈥檚 hometown of Monroeville, Ala.
Callahan will be featured in two events at the USA Faculty Club. She will conduct a workshop on writing historical fiction at 3:30 p.m., and discuss 鈥淏ecoming Mrs. Lewis鈥 at 5 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
Callahan鈥檚 historical fiction tells the true story of the love affair between author Joy Davidman and her more famous husband, C.S. Lewis.
鈥淐allahan鈥檚 writing is riveting and her characters spring to life to create a magical and literary experience that won鈥檛 be soon forgotten,鈥 the Library Journal said.
Callahan is a New York Times best-selling author of 15 novels. She resides in both Mountain Brook, Ala., and Bluffton, S.C.
The Stokes Center enhances the department of English course offerings in creative writing by sponsoring readings, lectures, forums, community projects and other events that are free and open to the public. It also supports students through its undergraduate and graduate awards in poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. The Stokes Center is committed to fostering a vibrant writers鈥 community in southern Alabama, one that not only showcases both local and national talent, but also provides a meeting place for writers from around the world.
